The 8th Annual Cayucos Sea Glass Festival is set for Saturday-Sunday, March 10-11, at the Cayucos Vet’s Hall, and the 2nd Annual Cayucos Sea Glass Festival’s Mermaid Ball is set for 6-10 p.m. Friday, March 9 in the pavilion by the Pier.
At the Mermaid Ball, you’ll experience an evening of whimsical, under-the-sea enchantment including live music and dancing, photo-ops with live mermaids, seafood chowder cook-off, and locally produced wine and artisan brews.
Come in costume for a chance to be crowned the “Sea Glass King & Queen of 2018” with a sea glass bejeweled tiara designed and created exclusively for the occasion by Jason of Cabana Jewelry.
Tickets are $25 and are available at the Sea Shanty in Cayucos, 296 S Ocean Ave., or email Carol at: firstname.lastname@example.org. The Mermaid Ball is for adults 21-older and proceeds support the 4th of July Fireworks Show.
The Sea Glass Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday with a market preview from 9-10. Sunday is 10-4. Admission is $7 daily and $15 for the Saturday preview shopping. Saturday live music with Burning Bad & Cool and Burning James & the Funky Flames. Sunday music is with New Horizons Band & Orchestra and Jim Conroy & the Mystery Brothers.
Also, throughout the town and all through March is the “Mermaids on Parade” sculpture exhibition, as local businesses display their interpretations of mermaids. The festival sweepstake giveaway — “Storm Watchers Getaway” — is valued at $1,000, including $750 for lodging and $250 in gift certificates and is designed to encourage guests to not only shop for their sea glass but to discover their own treasures at the local businesses.
