AT&T announced the launch of its 5G Evolution network in the San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara regions today. Already in 239 different areas, the company plans to offer 5G to 400 locations by the end of the year.
AT&T states that with 5G connectivity, capable devices can reach theoretical peak speeds of at least 400 megabits per second. However, this boast comes with a disclaimer. In a press release, the company also states that it is laying the foundation to secure a mobile 5G platform.
The telecom company estimates that it has invested $70 million in both the Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo areas wireless and wired networks during 2015-2017.
