Net Neutrality, FCC v. California

WIRED takes a look at the FCC’s lawsuit against California’s net neutrality legislation that comes into effect on Jan.1, 2019. Repeatedly, FCC Chair Ajit Pai has stated that the agency will use a “light touch” when addressing regulations on the internet industry. However, the FCC’s lawsuit in response to state’s regulating the industry can appear to be heavyhanded.

The magazine writes, “Within hours of California governor Jerry Brown signing a Sweeping net neutrality bill into law, the US Department of Justice sued the state, sparking the latest battle in the long legal war over the ground rules for the internet. Groups representing broadband providers followed suit on Wednesday, with their own lawsuit arguing that California’s law was illegal.” To read more…
